Pure pleasure Believe it or not, each of these fluffy little white clouds started as a grain of brown rice from Italy's Po Valley. We just compress it, then release the pressure. There's a satisfying bratatatata sound and it turns into these light little bites. It's a simple process that makes for a delightfully floaty start to the day. And because it's whole-grain, it releases its energy slowly, to keep you frisky till lunchtime. The one that started it all Puffed rice was the original cereal. An inventor called Alexander Anderson shot rice out of a gun at the St Louis World's Fair of 1904. Like all great ideas, it was beautifully simple. We haven't really done anything to Alexander's recipe - it's so pure it's unimprovable. Silent but lovely Real puffed rice doesn't make a sound when you pour milk on it. Most puffed rice is ground down to flour, fortified, extruded and sugar coated. No wonder it explodes on contact with liquid. If you want a noisy breakfast, turn up the radio.
At Rude Health we only use the kind of ingredients you'd have in your own kitchen - nothing artificial, nothing refined. We source our ingredients from fields, orchards and vines - not laboratories. We think food should be made out of food - not thickeners, preservatives, colourings, flavourings and other additives. The proof is in the taste, try it for yourself. When you've got food this good inside you, you'll be up for anything. Eat right, stay brilliant.
