What does CBD Do?

WELL, WE CAN'T TELL YOU... WE'RE NOT ALLOWED!
CBD is an acronym for cannabidiol. It is a natural non-psychoactive dietary supplement found in the hemp leaf. It is used as one of many natural compounds aimed at enhancing the quality of life.

On Instagram alone, there are more than 7 million posts tagged #cbd, and earlier this year, The Independent ran an article saying that sales of CBD in the UK have increased by 99%. However, while it takes the world by storm, you will find it hard to find any consumable CBD manufacturers making claims about their products.

Because of the limited amount of official research carried out on CBD, we aren't allowed to make any claims about what CBD might do for you. So below, we've collected some opinions from the internet* highlighting CBD in different use cases, highlighting it’s use for anxiety, to aid focus, for muscle recovery and to treat insomnia.

ANXIETY

“CBD oil can be of great use even for those of us dealing with specific forms of anxiety. For example, a 2011 study published in Neuropsychopharmacology, revealed that cannabidiol could reduce social anxiety – one of the most common types of anxiety disorders. [5]

FOCUS
“It helps your focus by allowing more serotonin to flow in your brain in a similar manner as a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). This increased serotonin leads to less anxiety. One side effect of less anxiety is more focus. A lack of focus is often caused by anxiety.”

MUSCLE RECOVERY
Since CBD is known to ease inflammation, reduce muscle spasms, relieve pain and anxiety it is no doubt that it can be a good supplement for avid exercisers to include it in their overall active lifestyle.

In fact, CBD oil is thought to be one of the best anti-inflammatory supplements on the market today since it allows muscles to heal and get much stronger than traditional products.”

Research published in 2019 looked at whether CBD could improve sleep and or reduce anxiety. The study involved 72 subjects, with 47 experiencing anxiety and 25 experiencing poor sleep. The subjects were each given 25 milligrams (mg) of CBD in capsule form each day. In the first month, 79.2 percent of the patients reported lower anxiety levels and 66.7 percent reported better sleep.”‍

Forbes: 'A World Health Organization (WHO) report has found no adverse health outcomes but rather several medical applications for cannabidiol, a.k.a. CBD’

If you are feeling nerdy (we are), you can dig down into the WHO CBD report from 2017 that has a lot of information about CBD. 'Analgesic effect in patients with neuropathic pain resistant to other treatments.’ And 'Reduction of muscular tension, restlessness, fatigue, problems in concentration’:
